QTLS

A recognised professional teacher status is gained through the Institute for Learning (IfL). There are three stages to the Professional Formation process that leads to Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS). We can help you gain QTLS status throughout each of these stages.

Stage 1 - Expression of Interest
Let IfL know that you wish to apply for Professional Formation through their website.

Stage 2 - Apply
Send your portfolio of evidence to IfL.
The key elements to be included in your portfolio are:
  • Section 1- My teaching biography:
    In this introductory section describe your route into teaching or training;
    the role(s) you have and the context in which you teach.

  • Section 2- Standardised elements:
    Standardised elements include:
                - completion of an approved qualification (e.g. DTLLS)
                - confirmation of numeracy & literacy skills at or above Level 2
                - supporting testimony
                - declaration of suitability.

  • Section 3- Personalised elements:
    These are determined by IfL and are made up of individual reflections on professional elements from a variety of sources appropriate to the applicant, making them non-standardised, personal and unique.

Stage 3 - conferral of QTLS by IfL
Once received, your completed application will be reviewed and moderated. If successful, you will achieve Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
